ESAC, the European Space Astronomy Centre, is the home of ESA's astronomy, planetary and solar/heliospheric missions. All science missions are conducted from here and the resulting data is calibrated, processed, stored and distributed from the same site. Almost all of ESA's space science missions rely on the knowledge, expertise and experience of the professionals working at this site, located in Villanueva de la Cañada, close to Madrid, Spain. ESAC has been firmly established as the heart of space science in Europe, being also an important nexus for educational activities. It is one of the most prestigious organizations for its contribution to the science and the space technology.




Main list of Tasks

1. Management of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Science Comms team


  • Implementation and coordination of the communication yearly plan.

  • Act as Technical Officer for the communication service contract.

  • Approval of call of orders for extra editorial effort, 3D render and visuals.

  • Procurement approval of merchandising and models.




2. Liaison with ESA Corporate Communication Department.


  • Point of Contact and coordination of Science Directorate presence at strategic corporate events, in coordination with Science Strategy Office (SCI-D).

  • Point of Contact and coordination with Media Relations.

  • Point of Contact and coordination with Internal Communications for the OneESA Intranet.

  • Attendance to relevant weekly coordination meetings.




3. Support to the preparation of the ESA Open Days.


  • Support in the coordination of science activities and volunteers at ESA-ESAC (European Space Astronomy Centre, Spain) Open Day.

  • Support ESA-ESTEC (European Space Technology Centre, the Netherlands) Open Day, connecting resources needed for both events.

  • Approval of procurement for materials needed for all activities.

Requisitos mínimos

  • Science background at master's level.

  • Experience in communication and event organization.

  • Planning skills, ability to plan ahead.

  • Professional English
